ALBERTO MACHADO Y ANGEL ACOSTA DE ESTELARES EN BOXEO AL MAXIMO
CAGUAS, P.R. – Two of Puerto Rico’s top prospects, Alberto ‘El Explosivo’ Machado and Angel ‘Tito’ Acosta, will showcase their knockout talent on Saturday August 6 at the Cosme Beitia Coliseum in Cataño. They will be headlining Miguel Cotto Promotions and H2 Entertainment hit series Boxeo al Maximo and will be the second that the company presents consecutively in the town of Cataño, after celebrating there with great success, on June 4, starring the lightweight Kevin Nieves. It will also be the second show of the company since its agreement with the Hispanic network Mega TV, which will present the program in delayed transmission on Saturday August 13.
The 25-year-old junior lightweight Machado, from Monte Hatillo in San Juan, has a perfect record of 14-0 with 12 knockouts. He is a right fighter, 5 ’10 ” tall, which blocks to southpaw and wastes no time in attacking his opponent, as evidenced by the fact that he has won by knockout in the first round in the last five bouts. In his last fight, on April 23 at the Roger L. Mendoza Coliseum, of Caguas, Machado annihilated the veteran Mexican Miguel Angel Mendoza, who had a record of 22-7-2 and 21 knockouts.
Meanwhile, Acosta, from Barrio Obrero, is a light flyweight who is also 25 years old and has a record of 13-0 with 13 knockouts and appears ranked in the top 15 by the WBO, IBF and WBA. Acosta comes from knocking out the embattled Dominican fighter Erickson Martell in the second round to retain his flyweight Fecarbox title, a regional title affiliated with the WBC.
The show will also feature other rising prospects, including amongst others super-flyweight Jose ‘Chiquiro’ Martinez, from Las Marias, with a record of 17-0 with 10 knockouts and an impressive victory over Edwin ‘Puto’ Rodriguez by decision in a 10-round fight in his last presentation and with that triumph, Chiquiro retained the WBC Latino scepter. Also the super-flyweight from Morovis Carlos ‘Kid’ Narvaez (14-0, 6 KOs), who in his last appearance defeated Carlos ‘El Machazo’ Rodriguez at the eighth round by decision, to win the vacant flyweight scepter of Fecarbox. “It will be a night of great prospects,” said Hector Soto, promoter of the company. “These are the four most important and advanced fighters we expect a sold out arena.” The show will be broadcasted in delayed transmission on Mega TV next Saturday August 13 in prime time starting at 9:00 p.m. Boxeo al Maximo is presented by Miguel Cotto Promotions, H2 Entertainment and Roc Nation Sports.
