Niko “Baby Face” Valdes debut in LA FIGHT CLUB on Apr-15
Young light heavyweight prospect, Niko “Baby Face” Valdes will make his professional debut on April 15th, at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles, California in “LA FIGHT CLUB” event presented by Golden Boy Promotions.
Stepping into the ring for the first time at 18 years old, Niko “Baby Face” Valdes was a fairly latecomer to boxing. But the Miami, Florida native quickly made up for lost time, ascending the national ranks to win bronze at the 2014 USA Amateur Boxing National Championships after only two years in the fight game.
A fearless fighter and eager learner, Valdes battled his way through the amateur level. The southpaw won the Florida Golden Gloves state championship four times and claimed bronze at the National Golden Gloves and is ranked third best amateur fighter in the light heavyweight division in the U.S.
Valdes, who is of Cuban and Dutch descent, also journeyed to Belgium for part of his amateur career, and rose to become the number 1 ranked amateur fighter in the country at 178 lbs. Having earned a spot as one of the top amateur fighters, the now-22-year-old Valdes finds is hungry for more as he makes the jump to the professional level of boxing. The light heavyweight prospect signed with Golden Boy Promotions in January 2016, and the next Apr-15th he will make his professional debut.
Valdes is training along his trainer Dino Spencer, at The World Famous 5th St. GYM in South Beach, Miami, Fla. He plans to make a lot of noise when he takes his first professional fight.
I’m training with great enthusiasm and confident to win my first fight. Dino Spencer and all the guys here at 5th St. Gym, help and support me, I’m not afraid, I have a long training camp and I am at my best physically. Valdes said.
“We are committed to developing top talent to become boxing’s future champions, and will look to do just that with the addition of Valdes to the Golden Boy family.” said Oscar De La Hoya.
