Saunders: ‘So happy the WBO has made me and David Lemieux,’
Billy Joe Saunders is ready to face David Lemieux after the WBO ordered the champion to fight the No.1 contender.
Lemieux is a serious challenge for Saunders with 33 knockouts from 38 wins in a 38-3 record.
Saunders successfully defended his WBO title against Willie Monroe Jr last month and is happy to take on the challenge of the Canadian.
‘So happy the WBO has made me and David Lemieux,’ he said on Twitter.
‘We will see wot [what] short legs does, hope you don’t get an injury.’
Lemieuz has been goading Saunders on social media in recent weeks and labeled the Brit a ‘coward’.
The middleweights have 30 days to reach an agreement with mid December a likely date for the fight.
Saunders will be hoping for a better performance against Lemieux than the fight with Monroe Jr.
Although it was a clear points win, Monroe Jr was an awkward opponent that lacked aggression.
